Understanding

No person can understand all things at all times. I get the weirdest thoughts in the shower. This is the place to be if I want to up-end my day, randomly.

Anyway, it is understandably so. It is also understandable, why not understanding, is scary. We fear what we don’t understand, whilst profound, is in my opinion, at least one layer too shallow. Fear breeds … problems. One of the most difficult problems; Fear breeds. What occurs after that, is quite literally, history.

Circumstance & Fear. Fear & Circumstance.

Fear will eat you whole if it is unchecked. It is understandable then, that anxiety, worry, and … well… fear, seem to plague people during times when there are seemingly more things to understand, in broad terms. (there is space for misunderstanding, I leave it unclarified. If it is pointed out, someone will clarify it.)

This can be alleviated, but how best within the spatial and temporal constraints is a question I seek to solve today. What follows, may not have as many “broad terms”, but I think is a “teething phase” that I am determined to get through one way or another.

Skip the following entirely if time is a constraint, adding further stress is the last thing we all want.

Focus & Follow my Trend of Thought

I think & write, a step or a leap, I cannot say, & it does not matter anyway.

And so we begin:

~The thought that … sparks this blog … in a short, literal, while. Well, it had a small but actually quite large effect on choosing which platform to post on. It sounds dumb and looks dumber to highlight, either point, but Medium just seemed like a happy centre on which it held a marginal benefit in something as innocuous as its name.

This is a necessary step to highlight as it underpins many problems in society at large, how we view the world, the way we think, the things we think we know and ones that we, perhaps do. It is the beginning of a story that attempts to explain how there is nothing that is not connected, and demonstrate step-by-step, how every corner and crevice of the world works and functions. That is a pretty wide space, at least geographically but we should agree is just plain, wide. And, thus it is imperative to get all that covered, so there is space to explore the effectively infinite possibilities because at least half of the questions will still not be answered. To be honest, we have answered, almost no questions thus far. This is relative, but what is not.

Either way, there is no possible way to do this traditionally, I suspect, or if this is the traditional way of writing a blog then that's even better as I worry a little bit about the possibility of some convention that I am not adhering to.

I’ll highlight a few things I hope to address powered only initially by my own steam. The importance but dangers of language, what science misses, how it misses, where we came from, where we are going, how we think and learn, a deep dive into our past, what the present is and now was, how things get lost in translation, why everything is definitively, infinitely more complex than you can imagine, how things are also fairly simple, and anything else that can be debated, lingers on people’s minds etc … in doing so connecting the dots between the individual experience and wider society as a whole, as is understandable to as many people as possible. Quality probably more important than quantity, as I envision can be compared to the Sars-Cov2 virus super-spreader phenomenon.

Ultimately, there is a problem that I am trying to fix, and the only fix I know of comes in one form.

Statements & Solutions

Every blog post thus seeks a solution. It may look like it violates grammatical and punctuation laws but it doesn't because I am not asking a question. Statements however still force questions, and thus the punctuation problem must be solved by the co-creator of what hopefully, ends up being solution. ~

One problem so far is evident.

Although I am not entirely sure; case in point.

What frequency are we communicating on, nudge this endeavour in the right direction, parameters I suppose are, as tends to be the case — the target audience. In this case, however, it embeds a lot as it determines the engagement rate, engagement quality, and the ultimate total value, vaguely defined by a mix of volume and quality. Both forming a sort of recursive loop as they naturally feedback into the system and a small community is born with relatively low effort. Considering the platform, and the one it rests on, these almost ensure, that this is of great value, untarnished. Think about it.

I write this and “set it in stone” for a few reasons, as a side note, these reasons also represent a starting from which strategies or models can arise from. This offers no assurance of success, but that is not within any one’s control. (This is something that in itself could be explored). There is certainly no shortage of people with time at home in front of a screen.

  1. It commits me a little bit more to my endeavour
  2. I am interested in the 6 experiments as is demonstrated above
  3. Ultimately I seek solutions if any to general individual/societal/global problems, at least as I perceive them, but this prefaces everything anyway.
  4. I realised that there are considerable avenues I had previously not seen. The rough effort/reward ratio of writing a blog is considerably way more skewed then I had initially thought when it crossed my mind.
  5. Ultimately I considered this endeavour to rank 3rd in importance, as I quickly re-prioritized my day, foregoing lunch and a shower in a bid to ensure my habit of prioritising my day is not arbitrary.

Just in case, if I had to pick one, there is one main question I likely need to be answered, as early as possible.

What so far is understandable?
The writing goes from “broad” to less “broad”, naturally … But this is adjustable, at least I feel, at almost all stages, whatever the source. But keeping to the virtual here, and now. Where is ideal? It requires time and effort to adjust but more importantly, I need a frame of reference.

In your opinion. Also, if it is just generally not, please leave a comment so I can adjust, and that gap I assure you can, and will be bridged, just as I am seeking assistance in bridging my own gaps.

I cannot know what I do not. Everyone knows that. Perception problems are something to explore and perhaps 2 birds are grazed with one stone at a minimum. Understandably trial and error will be involved, & thus time.

Circumstance

Ultimately, I was against starting a blog. I read a few, and they are very good. They fulfil some desire; they help me. There is however no reciprocity on my part and I have gained considerable insights into things via the 8 or so blogs that I follow. I do not think however that I should be further adding another stream of information that comprises in some way, some, or perhaps all, of what is already out there.

Still, no person can understand all things at all times.

This statement still rings true. It is simply too much for a human to bear. The availability of all information on demand, if that is even the case, has its costs, and I am not sure if we have made the right calculations if we ever made them, and if we did, how we went about defining it. I am quite sure, however, that I was not present if we did have a conversation about this, and thus this, this must be interactive; I cannot be talking to a pixelated screen.

That would be at least an attempt to keep the current blogs functioning to their maximum potential (by mine not necessarily cluttering the space, & indicating my preferred blogs, uncorrected for bias) that in itself being at least one topic out of many that should be discussed ….

Closing Statement

I think I should stop here. But in one summary, I think what my brain is telling me, is that the underlying thread, seems to be that there are conversations that have not/are not/seldom had, but must be.

I think we should consider the following statement:

Ships that run themselves begs no question.
